In Japan, the temperature has begun to drop and it is finally a comfortable season,

so the end of the year 2022 is approaching.

As mentioned in our news release the other day

We held a ceremony to commemorate the achievement of 250,000 tons of cumulative production of isotropic graphite materials.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again.

By the way, graphite, the material we handle, is used in a variety of places.

The reasons why graphite is used in various applications are as follows

Graphite can do what other materials cannot do.

Why do we use graphite instead of other materials or metals?

To understand the reason, the following features should be kept in mind.

Compared to metal, it is

1. Heat resistant

2. Super lightweight

3. Increased strength at higher temperatures

4. Low thermal expansion

5. Good thermal conductivity

6. Good electrical conductivity

7. Self-lubricating

Here, we would like to introduce the characteristics of graphite, namely, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.

Experiments on electrical conductivity of graphite

As you can see in the experimental movie

Glass ⇒ Does not conduct electricity

Copper ⇒ Conducts electricity

Graphite ⇒ Electrical conduction

We found that graphite conducts electricity in the same way as metals.

Thermal conductivity of graphite

Graphite  ⇒ The first fastest temperature rise rate.

Copper  ⇒ The second fastest temperature rise rate.

SUS, glass ⇒ The candle was hard to melt.

We found that graphite has high immediate response.

Taking advantage of these characteristics, "graphite" is also used in heaters (parts that generate heat and warm up).

A document explaining the features of graphite in more detail is available for download at the end of this document.

We hope you will find it useful.
