Pioneer of graphite products

With the pioneering spirit of "creating something that can't be found anywhere else", we have developed innovative technologies such as the world's first mass production of "large isotropic graphite". Starting from the production of carbon brushes, our company now supports a wide range of products from home appliances, automobiles and industrial machinery to semiconductors and aerospace, all of which are familiar to the global market. We would like to introduce you to our innovative technologies that continue to explore the ever-expanding possibilities of carbon.

Graphite for ultra-precision machining

Japan contributes to the world with leading edge precision technologies for automobiles, semiconductor manufacturing equipment. and other industries. "Electrical discharge machining(EDM)” is one of the precision product processing methods. Electrical discharge machining is a method of processing hard materials and complex shapes that cannot be processed with a blade by the power of electricity. To explain in more detail, the workpiece is placed in water or oil, and an electrical discharge phenomenon is artificially generated between the workpiece and the electrode. The heat of the discharge gradually melts the workpiece, thereby processing the workpiece.

[Features of Electrical discharge machining]

・Non-contact machining: Machining is performed by the heat of electric discharge, so there is no direct contact with the

workpiece.Physical restrictions on machining (ex: catching on steps, tool slippage, etc.) are eliminated,

allowing for a wide variety of shapes.

・Processing is possible with any conductive material: As long as the material conducts electricity, it can be processed without                                                                                               placing a burden on the workpiece, so it does not matter if the material is

                                                                                       hard, brittle, etc.

・Precision machining is possible: Precision machining that tools cannot fit into is also possible.

Graphite” is used as the electrode for EDM, which enables difficult machining using any tools.

The properties of materials used in electrodes for EDM include the following.

・Heat resistance: Electrodes are subjected to high temperatures that can melt the workpiece. If the electrode melts, processing

will not be possible, so heat resistance is necessary.

・Thermal conductivity: One of the reasons for processing in water or oil is to cool the workpiece and electrode. The thermal

conductivity that the heat (coldness) of the oil is quickly transferred to the entire electrode and the

electrode is cooled before it melts is necessary.

In addition to the above, graphite has the features of shorter machining and discharge times, less wear, and less thermal deformation. We have developed the “TTK grade” that surpasses conventional carbon. It exceeds the limits of conventional graphite and realizes ultra-precision machinnig. Furthermore, we added "EDM electrode for cemented carbide" as a new lineup  from 2022.

We handle a wide variety of graphite materials and can consistent support from design until processing, so please consult with us.

TTK grade

TTK grade is a carbon what we developed with a micron-order ultrafine particle structure.Sharp edges, reduced electrode wear, and improved discharge surface roughness and surface accuracy, which could not be achieved with conventional carbon.

EDM electrode for cemented carbide(ISEM-43C)

Copper graphite material for cemented carbide(ISEM-43C) is tungsten-free and a composite material consisting of  isotropic graphite impregnated with copper.

We offer a wide variety of graphites that cannot only cost reduction and quality improvement but greatly contribute to as well as lead time reduction.
