 Carbon has superior self-lubricity, heat resistance, and chemical resistance, and is therefore widely used in high-temperature atmospheres where general metal sliding materials cannot be used, and in fields where chemical solutions and lubricants cannot be used. Main applications are Bearings, Seal rings, Packing, and so on.

Not restricted to conventional uses, the characteristics of carbon for mechanical applications are being considered for use in a variety of applications. Toyo Tanso is able to respond to a variety of requests by combining its technological and developmental strengths in the field of sliding materials over many years. Here we introduce new carbon parts for machinery, Toyo Tanso's injection molding and PTS products, which are currently the focus of much attention.

• Excellent in self-lubrication and can be used in liquid or in areas where lubricants are unacceptable.

• Can be used in dry under the environment without lubrication.

• A composite material of carbon and thermosetting resin which has excellent resistance toward wear and heat compared with general resin materials.

• Lower bulk density than metal which is useful for reduction of machine weight and sliding noise.

• Resin-bonded carbon which has excellent dimensional accuracy in molded products and is excellent also in impermeability.

• Can be injection molded which is easy to mass-produced in desired shapes.

• Sintered carbon which has excellent thermal durability and chemical resistance compared with general resin materials and metal materials. From it’s light weight, it is useful to reduce the machine weight and sliding noise.

• The dimensional accuracy (tolerance width) without machining is about ±0.5% of the original dimensions.
